8th Toronto Girls’ Cupcake Bike Ride

the picture that sums up our glorious ride
We started at the legendary The Cupcake Shoppe (after Audrey and I, plus Murielle on her own, biked from downtown up to Yonge & Eg). The shop was buzzing with 5+ staff and cute cupcakes with equally cute names. Sadly, despite the creative names, we were all a bit underwhelmed with the cupcakes themselves (the cake portion was not that flavourful and the butter cream was a bit too oily and bland). After our requisite photo shoot, we were off.
The whole ride was glorious as we rode along side golden trees and under a bright blue sky. We couldn’t help but ooh and aah and meander at different spots to take in the views.

Murielle was too speedy and I sadly couldn’t get an action shot of her on her bike
Alas we didn’t make it out to Life is Sweet, but stopped off at the Distillery District (which was much closer to the Don Valley Trail) and tried out the cupcakes at The Sweet Escape instead. Amber and I both agreed that the red velvet cupcake at The Sweet Escape is better than the The Cupcake Shoppe.
Including the ride uptown, we biked close to 30 kms today! It was a super long ride, but beautiful, relaxing and so much fun. And to be able to do it with a fantastic bunch of ladies – it doesn’t get much better than this!
Hopefully we’ll be able to continue to enjoy a mild autumn and be able to squeeze in one more cupcake ride in 2010.
