The Last Style Spin of 2011
Andre, Joe, Denise and I caught the last Style Spin of 2011 last Friday. Style Spin is a group ride organized by the Deadly Night Shades that takes the group to visit artist studios, fashion retailers and galleries by bike.
That night we visited Carte-Blanche, a local fashion retailer that has their sewing studio in the basement of their Queen West store; ‘V‘ a 69 Vintage concept vintage clothing store that showcases a collection of clothes based on themes every month; and our last stop was the Sterling Rd. studios where we met a super cute kitty.
Little did I know that the highlight of the night would be the story of my camera.
Denise and I had a bit too much fun at ‘V’ and as our group started to collect our bikes to head to the next destination, I realized that my camera wasn’t in my bag. I ran back to the store, but the camera wasn’t on any of the tables or shelves. The stylists at 69 Vintage didn’t see a camera either.
By this time, the group had already biked away to the next destination. Joe and Denise, being the good friends that they are, were ok to try to catch up with the group. So we booted it down Queen St (while cutting a cab off in the process) and up Lansdowne towards Sterling Road.
We arrived at the studios before the group did and when they all got there I asked everyone if they had seen my little point and shoot. From the group’s collective groan, I knew that it was gone.
While being enamoured by all the cute stuff at ‘V’, I somehow lost my camera.
Andre, being used to my featherbrained ways, wasn’t surprised while Joe tried to console me by saying that this was a good opportunity to get a nicer, new camera. I trudged through the Sterling Studio tour.
As I regrouped with my gang, I look down inside my helmet and what do I find?
MY CAMERA.
I somehow whipped my helmet on my head at ‘V’ with the camera inside, thought I lost it, furiously rode from Queen and Gore Vale to Stirling and Bloor with the camera sandwiched between my bun and my helmet. I then took my helmet off without dropping the silly thing once!
The last photo I took of the night, elated after finding my camera! The photo is a Deadly NightShade, in heels on a tall bike.
