How Rude!

Living in Toronto, I’ve gotten used to the lack of respect most of the citizens have for our city. The litter on the streets, in the parks and most public areas is pretty bad. There’s a lot of cigarette butts but also piles discarded food, coffee cups and even household trash. I routinely see people casually drop their food wrappers or empty cigarette boxes on the sidewalk, as if it’s no big deal. And it doesn’t matter which neighbourhood, the litter issue is everywhere in this city!

So finding that someone has used my bike basket as a trash can shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it still enrages me!

Especially when it’s parked outside a quiet strip of Front Street during the week day. It’s not like the many times I’ve found empty cigarette boxes in my basket after my bike is locked up defenceless in a neighbourhood that gets filled with drunk douchebags at night. I mean, this still makes me mad too but maybe I think that people who eat yogurt should know better than a drunk person on College Street?

I don’t know. Either way – how thoughtless and rude!

I used to have this problem all the time when I locked the Tank up outside school. And there was a garbage can not 2 metres away! Drove me nuts.

I really don’t understand why people can’t hold on to their garbage until they either find a garbage can or get home. We really need an anti-littering campaign; too many people think it’s somebody else’s job to clean up after them.

There totally needs to be an anti-littering campaign in this city! It’s out of control!

Every single walk I take my dogs on, whether it’s on a main street or a residential side street, there is so much litter and discarded food that they ALWAYS eat something.

I’m glad you can park your bike in the underground now :)

I often wonder why people do unprovoked, and rude things like that too.
