Amazing weather, wonderful company, yummy cupcakes and beautiful bikes made for a glorious Season Opener. This was the biggest turn out for the Cupcake Ride yet. Thank you to all the ladies who made it out!
We started off at Prairie Girl Bakery where many of us opted for the mini cupcakes so that we could taste test a bunch of flavours. The staff were super efficient and they were able to swiftly serve us to get us on our way.
Personally, my favourite was the Treat of the Day – lime buttercream with a vanilla cake.
We rode on King St. through the downtown core and took the bike lanes on Sherbourne St. to the Lake Shore Trail.
Then we took the Lake Shore Trail all the way east to the Beaches.
Unfortunately, despite my warning to everyone to check their bikes before coming out to the ride, I didn’t do thorough job of it myself and en route to Prairie Girl I noticed that my handle bar slipped forward a bit when I braked. I then noticed that the handle bar was getting looser as I rode and at one point, my knee bumped against the bottom of my drops, got caught and sent me into a slow tumble down to the street. Wops!
Other than my tumble, we had a smooth ride through the Beaches on the Martin Goodman Trail and then we went north bound on Willow to Queen St to get to our destination: Life is Sweet (which according to some was the farthest east they had ever come on Queen St).
Many of us indulged in Life is Sweet’s Easter themed cupcakes.
We basked in the sun outside the shop and chatted about bikes, falling off of bikes (including motorbikes!), child rearing and of course cupcakes.
Thanks for coming out everybody!!
I’ve started a Flickr group for the Cupcake Ride, so if you have any photos that you’d like to share, please add them to the pool.
And don’t forget about the upcoming Sweet Ride (details are coming shortly)!!
