Happy Bike Month, Toronto!

by happy d on May 31st, 2012

One of my favourite CBC Radio shows is Definitely Not the Opera (otherwise known as DNTO). For those not familiar, it’s kind of a quirkier This American Life hosted by ex-Much Music VJ, Sook-Yin Lee.

To celebrate Bike Month, I thought I’d share one of my favourite episodes of Definitely Not the Opera: I want to ride my bicycle.

Don’t have time to listen to the whole 1 hour podcast? Check out one the funnier stories from this episode:

Happy Bike Month!

  1. Happy Bike Month Canada! This radio broadcast was excellent! I had a moped stolen in college which was my sole source of transportation. It was devastating, really.

I’m just as attached to and dependent on my bicycles now (I have three). They are all very unique so I’m not going to say they are unstealable but you would definitely be noticed. I also have lots of clear decals I added to each bicycle so there would be no trouble identifying it. After my moped theft I switched to using a heavy U Lock ( NYC “Faggadabout It ” is good) and we keep all our bicycles in a lockable shed.

It’s funny how attached we get to our two-wheeled companions don’t we? If any of my bikes were to get stolen, I would be devastated too :(
