My friend Natsumi was one of the first friends I made in Toronto when I moved here 7 years ago. Back then, we spent a lot of time cooking and eating, going to concerts and exploring the city together. Sadly she moved back to Japan 3 years ago and I’ve missed her company terribly.
When she decided to come back for a visit, I wanted to show her some of the new things that popped up in Toronto since her departure and what better way than on bicycle?
Ever since the Snow Day ride that Denise organized, I’ve been returning to the Brickworks regularly and definitely wanted to take Natsumi there.
Our ride started off in Little Portugal and we rode east along the College and Gerrard St bike lanes. We got a little lost around Castle Frank trying to enter the trails to get us to the Brickworks, but we found it with a few pointers from other cyclists and made it to the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market.
With our tummies filled with crepes, waffles and other fresh baked goods, we hit the Don Valley trail southbound to check out Rooster Cafe and see one of Natsumi’s old friends.
What a great way to see the sites thanks to our bikes!
